Q1. Do you manufacture only Phthalo Blues?
Ans: Yes, SBS is a specialized company for the
production of Phthalo Blues. The company focuses on preparing
through its own R&D and Technical Cell services, tailor
made products for your enduse. This enables the enduser

Q2. Do you manufacture your own Crude
Blue?
Ans: Yes, SBS manufactures its own Crude Blue.
The SBS group of company's compromises of three dependent
companies with three manufacturing sites independent of
each other with its own complete infrastructure and other
services including manpower and staff. The Crude Blue
being produced in-house ensures the correct and most consistent
quality for the end products manufactured in the other
SBS units. SBS is therefore, able to provide consistent
quality to the enduser once the particular standard is
fixed for the buyer. SBS has specialized the production
of Crude Blue with respect to enduse application. The
range of SBS Crude Blue makes it feasible for SBS to cover
the worldwide large global markets to accept the requirement
for their consumptions. The Crude Blues are specialized
for manufacture of finished pigments, dyestuffs, dispersions,
activations, Inkjet inks and many other applications,
some of them being customer tailor-made, retuned for customers
satisfaction.

Q3. What is the SBS capacity and
how much is available for supply?
Ans: The SBS production facilities in Phthalocyanine
Blue production is currently 2000 Mt. The current utilization
of SBS capacity is upto 1500 Mt. per year. There is an
available installed capacity for production and supply
upto 500 Mt. per annum of SBS products. The future target
products of the SBS market demands are growing expertise
and SBS target the pigments to rise upto 5000 Mt. in the
next three years. SBS will install the new plant with
all modern facilities and quality control systems and
modern laboratory and enduse application for testing different
enduse application and to check the consistency. The project
will be to manufacture 5000 Mt. per annum of Phthalo Blues
over and above the current 2000 Mt. capacity.
Q4. Does SBS Production confirm to
the international standard regulation for Toxicity?
Ans. SBS has tested the products for PCB content
and Dioxin levels and it has been established that all
SBS products are within the acceptable norms. SBS products
have also been tested for heavy metals and amines and
found to be within the acceptable norms with respect to
the US and European standards.
Q5. What about Environment? There
are many companies in India and China who do not follow
the environmental norms strictly. What is the SBS policy
in this regard?
Ans. SBS has a very stringent quality policy with
respect to the environmental issues. We reproduce below
the actions SBS undetakes to ensure environmental Care:
SBS is one of the first pigment company to acquire the
ISO 14001 Certification for its commitment to environment
and pollution control for the discharge of effluent from
its factory. The SBS group has totally invested about
11% share holding in the Common Effluent Treatment Plant
in the Industrial Estate, SBS being the second largest
equity holder in this Company.
Mr. K. K. Sundaram, one of the director of this group,
is also an Honoury Director and active participant in
the Common Effluent Treatment Plant in this industrial
estate. Mr. K. K. Sundaram is also a well-known figure
in the Chemical Industry in Gujarat for his active encouragement
and initiative in highlighting the requirements of environment
control in water and air pollution in the various Industrial
Estates.
He is a representative of the CETP from this industrial
Estate, which recognizes the case of the Central Pollution
Control Board at Delhi for tackling various issues in
Environment Care. He actively participatates in the fixing
of the discharged effluent by the Chemical industries,
to discharge the treated waste into the rivers and seas.
Recently, SBS is proud to inform that Mr. Sundaram is
one of the most active leader, in the finanlizing of the
major issues of discharge of effluent from three major
industrial establishments from Gujarat in which he proposes
to acquire a 40 kilometer pipeline to be installed for
common discharge of treated effluent from the three industrial
giant estates in Gujarat i.e. GIDC Ankleshwar, GIDC Jagadia
and GIDC Panoli,. the pipeline has now been approved by
the High Court of India, and with funds from World Bank
to complete this project, it is being ensured that the
Industries in these three industrial areas continues the
production of chemicals without affecting the environment.
Q6. There are so many Phthalocyanine
producers in India. Everyday we receive letters and offers
from different companies, manufacturers and Traders. We
do not have any answers to so many offers, which we receive.
Where does SBS stand in this?
Ans. It is true that there are many manufacturers
in India of Phthalocyanine Pigments and also there are
many trading firms and export houses that offer these
products. However, SBS has a unique position in the Phthalocyanine

There are several companies who may offer products cheaper
but may be saving on Pollution controls. There is also
possibility that all the producers in India and China
may not have the marketing experience or expertise to
sell the products through established networks and may
be forced to sell at lower prices depending on their stock
position and cash flow situation. This means, that several
companies may offer products at non-competitive but lower
prices in order to extend their survival for some more

time cycles and revival of sick units, experience in environmental
control issues and satisfaction of optimum waste by manufacturing
by-products, chemicals, track record and experience with
